Every cardboard box and plastic measuring cup that comes with a beauty product requires an entire chain of resources, energy, and logistics, only to become waste the moment it is opened. It is made every year, discarded every year. Again and again.

For us, this was not a sustainable option. In fact, there was never anything to decide.

A cardboard box is not neutral packaging

Follow its journey from source to the recycling bin.

  • A tree is cut down. It is turned into paper pulp. Energy is consumed at every stage.
  • It is molded, printed, and varnished in a factory. Inks, chemicals, and heat.
  • It is transported to the manufacturer, then to the warehouse, then to the carrier, and finally to you.
  • You take out the jar. The box goes straight into the recycling bin.
This entire process existed so the box could remain in your hands for just a few seconds.

It’s not a bad decision by one particular company. It’s a flawed system that most beauty brands join without a second thought.
